The brand

Giacinto Callipo founded the Callipo company in 1913. in Pizzo, a beautiful town located in Calabria and historically famous for tuna fishing.

Callipo is the first company in Calabria and one of the first in Italy to preserve the precious tuna from the Mediterranean. Ever since its inception, "quality first" has been the mission that Callipo has set for itself. For all the years, Callipo has never deviated from the principle of "way of being" on which their business is constantly based, knowing that it represents the secret to success. All stages of production of Callipo products are carried out entirely in Calabria to ensure the quality of production. The secret of the brand's quality is the production process, as a result of a balanced combination of tradition, technology and special care for the entire process.

The products

All Callipo products are entirely manufactured in Italy using first choice Yellowfin tuna only and following the traditional handmade production techniques which have been inherited from local ancestors. Freshly-caught tuna is delivered to the production plant located in Maierato, in Calabria, where only the best raw material is selected and processed under strict quality checks. Callipo tuna does not contain any preservatives or artificial colors and the glass jars are still filled by hand selecting the best tuna steaks only. The seasoning process can last up to one year, depending on the product line, to allow the tuna to develop its unique taste and aroma.
